Yolanda Adra:
What Yolanda loves most about glass is its paradoxical qualities-it
can be both strong and brittle, translucent and opaque, clear
and colorful, and smooth and jagged. Glass best allows Yolanda
to express her creativity because it can also be manipulated
in so many different ways. Glass art reveals new aspects of
the world by diverting our understanding of color and form
from its previous course.
Yolanda Adra truly enjoys pleasing her viewers with her artwork
and allowing one the opportunity to interact with her art
in a personal manner. Both the artist's and the viewer's interpretations
converge to create a truly unique experience for each piece.
Yolanda liberally indulges her love of bright colors to create
wall sculptures that each contain distinct combinations of
colorful opalescent, iridescent, and dichroic glass. In addition,
the fusing process gives each panel a unique texture. Each
piece is fired at a kiln temperature of 1500 degrees Fahrenheit
during a twelve-hour firing process.
Yolanda's work has been purchased by numerous private collectors
and corporations across the US and internationally. These
collections include Mercedes Benz, SunTrust Bank, Turning
Stone Resort, Simon and Schuster Paramount Corporation, Boston
Children's Hospital, Marriott Hotel, Exxon, Inc., Western
Asset Management, and the Georgia World Congress Center.
