Emily Wilson's sculptural work is an explanation of themes found in nature. Her pieces may include avian, floral, or aquatic elements. The wooden components are made of basswood and are carved, sanded smooth, and painted in color washes. The steel rod armatures are welded, sandblasted, and painted with layers of color in a pin striping wrap. Through the color, forms, and visual movement in each of her sculptures it is her desire to present the viewer with an atmosphere of tranquility and optimism.
Wilson has done major commissions for libraries, hospitals and numerous corporate locations.
