Jack &
Alice McLean:
The McLeans’s bronze and copper pieces are not
cast. Each piece is individually bent and welded from thick,
flat bronze plates. The tungsten-inert-gas arc-welding process
allows the McLeans to produce work without the intervention
of a foundry. Variations in the patina, patterns and glass
beads allow for infinite variety. Tiles and boats may be arranged
in any configuration, from individual pieces to large installations.
The McLeans’s work is a part of the permanent public
collections at the United States Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan,
University of Michigan Design Building, Ann Arbor, Mi., and
City of Orlando Public Art Collection as well as many private
and corporate art collections around the world.
We will be featuring the work of Jack & Alice McLean at
SOFA-Chicago.
