Johanna Poehlmann at Coquette
Cafe Vegetables Revisited
Around the corner at 316 N. Milwaukee Street
Meet Johanna Poehlmann Thursday, December 17th from 5 to 7
pm.
Admittedly, I'm most at home working in
the realm of birds, spiders, frogs, and other critters, but
having been born into a family of bakers might explain my
interest in depicting food as well. In the early 1970's, when
I had exhausted drawing as many variations of bread, rolls,
tortes, and pastries as I could think of, I began trying my
hand at a whole series of vegetables. It was a pleasant way
to morph back to nature, the plants of course, being another
aspect of botany.
In this showing, with a few exceptions,
the venue seemed a fitting background for "Veggies Revisited."
This time, some are some are born again as homages to past
painters I've admired for many years. Bon Apetit!
