Tom Galbraith: Tom
Galbraith worked in both the neon and glassblowing industries
before turning to artistic glass blowing full time more than
fifteen years ago. He has a special interest in borosilicate
lampworking due to the organic nature of the process. He is
inspired by the plant and mineral world and tries to come
as close to natural phenomenon as possible. These light sculptures
“sense” the body conductors of the viewer’s
hand when placed near, following and changing paths when interacted
with. Galbraith has taught at the Glass Furnace in Istanbul,
Turkey and is currently working on several special commissions
for glass collectors.
Tom Galbraith was one of our featured artists at SOFA Chicago
2006 & 2007 and will be presenting larger pieces for
SOFA Chicago 2008.
