Annie Lock:
Relief Through Art and Music
With this piano, I have integrated visual and auditory art
forms by altering the surface of the piano with relief woodcuts
and carvings. It demonstrates how art and music are two expressive
forms that can work in unison to inspire the creative process.
I am very interested in the idea of art therapy and how visual
work can promote growth through interaction. I rescued this
piano from the corner of a bar, and in a way gave it a new
life. The imagery I chose incorporates growing up in the country
in Kansas and how it contrasts my life now in the city of
Milwaukee.
